The famous code Status 84: "Media write error"

I will begin first post with the simple code 84.


When the backup fail and appear in activity monitor message error 84 Media write error, you can look the log BPTM on Media Server.

Message error on BPTM log

io_write_block: writeFile() failed err=1117

io_write_block: write error on media id MIR107, drive index 0, writing header block, 1117
bptm: EXITING with status 84 <------------

System Event Viewer:
Event ID: 7
The device, \Device\Tape1, has a bad block.

Event ID: 9
The device, \Device\Scsi\aic78xx1, did not respond within the timeout period.

The basic is verify the media and tape drive if exist any problem, the most times the hardware may present problems. You can check more detail referent this issue
